A small pony has concerned passers-by who thought the poor thing was stuck up to her knees in mud. The truth however is less tragic. The pony just has very stumpy legs.
Anton Phillips was dispatched with 12 other firefighters after receiving calls to help the pony Mayflower. "From 200 yards away, it does look like the pony is trapped in the mud, especially when it is stood next to New Forest ponies which are about twice as tall", said Mr Phillips.
Mayflower's owner has always received phone calls informing her that her pony is stuck in the mud. Perhaps she should put a sign outside saying that her pony is merely small.
